Day 1: Arrive Pakse – Champasak – Wat Phou

On arrival at Pakse airport, we transferred to the pier for our boat trip along the Mekong River from Pakse to the charming colonial town of Champasak before continuing another 11km to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Wat Phou.

Wat Phou dates back to the 6th Century and was the first temple to be built by the Khmer Empire. Wat Phu was the center of the Khmer Kingdom before their capital was moved to Angkor. It was originally built as a Hindu temple before being converted into a Buddhist temple in later centuries. After exploring Wat Phou we return to Champasak check into the hotel and free at your leisure.
