07:00: Drive south to the 4,000 Islands, the drive takes about 2 hours till you arrive at the sleepy Mekong town of Ban Had Xai Khoun. From here you will take a boat ride through the 4000 Islands. Pass local villages as you cruise past Don Som Island.
As you continue south the backpacker island of Don Det where the French built the start of their French railway to transport goods across the Mekong falls. Stop on the next Island Don Khone Island just past the French railway bridge. From Don Khone, take a Tuk Tuk to visit Liphi Waterfall.
Returning to Don Khone cross to the mainland at Ban Nakasang, and continue south to Mekong's largest waterfall, Khon Phapheng. This is part of the Mekong fault line. The fault line stretches across the entire Mekong River and has been formed by the river eroding the softer rock downstream. Return to Pakse arriving at around 18:00.
