Pakse is the capital of Champasak Province, founded by French in 1905 it lies at the mouth of the Sedone and Mekong River. The city is a gateway to southern Laos, within easy reach of the Bolaven Plateau, Si Pan Don and Sekong and Attapeu in the east.
