A two day boat and cycling trip to Champasak and Wat Phu; this trip promotes our eco-tourism policy by using local villagers boats and the community homestay in Don Daeng
Day 1: Pakse – Don Daeng
Departing Pakse at 7:30, using the local fisherman’s boat to travel down the Mekong to the Island of Don Daeng, the boat trip is 35km the paddling will take a few hours for those who are tired we can use the boat engine part of the way. Stop along the river for a picnic lunch. Arriving in Don Daeng mid afternoon, check into the community homestay and freshen up. In the evening enjoy a traditional Baci ceremony and watch the stars from the sandy beach. Make a fire on the beach and a barbecue and take in the remoteness of this pristine island.
Day 2: Don Daeng – Wat Phu – Pakse
Leaving Don Daeng to catch the sunrise at Wat Phu, climb the step to the top of the temple. From here there are great views over the wetlands and the temple below. Return by Songtail to Champasak and have lunch in Champasak before returning to Pakse on the way stop to visit Wat Phou Salao where you can enjoy the view of Pakse and the Mekong Bridge
