The Khone Falls and PhaPheng Falls straddle the border with Cambodia. The falls are the largest in Southeast Asia and they are the main reason that the Mekong is not fully navigable into China. They have been formed from the erosion of the softer rock downstream and are known as the “Niagra of the East”.
